About the Journal

Mission Statement

Global Education Ecology (GEE) is an open-access, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of education systems, ecological sustainability, and societal development. We publish innovative scholarship that critically examines the dynamic relationships between education, human behavior, cultural contexts, and global ecosystems. All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic excellence and relevance.

Scope

The journal welcomes theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented contributions that explore the complex relationships between education systems and broader ecological, social, and technological contexts. We prioritize research that addresses:

1. Educational Ecosystems: Studies on how education interacts with environmental sustainability, digital transformation, urbanization, migration, and climate change.

2. Equity and Access: Critical analyses of systemic barriers, inclusive pedagogies, and policies affecting marginalized communities in global and local contexts.

3.Emerging Paradigms: Innovations in AI-driven education, decolonial approaches, neurodiverse learning, and the role of education in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

4.Cross-Sector Synergies: Interdisciplinary work bridging education with public health, economics, environmental science, technology, and cultural studies (e.g., eco-pedagogy, digital literacy, planetary health education).

Interdisciplinary Emphasis

We encourage submissions that transcend traditional academic boundaries, particularly research integrating perspectives from the natural sciences, data analytics, humanities, and community-based participatory approaches. Examples include:

- Environmental justice and curriculum design

- AI ethics in global education systems

- Indigenous knowledge and sustainable learning practices

- Policy analysis for crisis-responsive education (e.g., post-pandemic reforms, disaster-preparedness education).

Policy and Practice Engagement

The journal serves as a platform for research that informs local-to-global policymaking, pedagogical innovation, and grassroots movements. We publish policy briefs, case studies, and comparative international analyses alongside traditional research articles to bridge academia and real-world impact.

By connecting ecological thinking with educational transformation, Global Education Ecology aims to redefine the boundaries of 21st-century learning ecosystems.
